Free and Sustainable Drinking Water in Public Spaces - Aqua World Line

Today, February 2, 2026, passengers in the Departures terminal were pleasantly surprised to discover our first Aqua World Line smart station: a sensor-activated bottle-filling dispenser, an ergonomic drinking fountain (fully accessible for people with disabilities), and most importantly—filtered, chilled, and 100% free water.

Naturally, transit travelers were the most delighted. Here are a few reactions captured by reporters:

"In the airport shops, water is more expensive than in Italy! Since we have the resources, it’s a shame not to do it—after all, we have water!"

"I think it’s great. I’ve seen this in many places abroad and I’m really glad it’s finally available here. It used to be a real struggle, especially with the prices they charge in the airport."

This premiere marks a significant step toward aligning with Western standards—where free hydration in airports is already the norm—and toward reducing single-use plastic consumption.

At Aqua World Line, we continue to install smart free-drinking-water stations in high-traffic public areas—train stations, malls, universities, and institutions. Each station is funded through responsible advertising on LED screens, contributing to a more hydrated and cleaner Romania.

At Aqua World Line (AWL) we have built exactly that: a public hydration infrastructure, supported by CSR partnerships, that generates impact indicators in real time – easy to understand, easy to report, impossible to "cosmeticize".

Why it matters for CSR and ESG

While European rules on sustainability reporting are evolving (and are even in the process of being simplified/adjusted), the direction remains clear: companies need data, not just stories.

This project is part of our 2025–2026 expansion plan and shows that free, sustainable hydration can reach exactly where it’s needed most: high-traffic public spaces.

We showcased a fully functional AMS station, demonstrating how free hydration can support ESG objectives. Our 2-minute video presentation showed the real impact: 83 liters of water dispensed, 165 bottles reused, and 23.37 kg of CO₂ avoided—live metrics illustrating reduced plastic use and emissions in public spaces.
We also had direct conversations with participants about integrating AMS into CSR strategies, with several companies expressing interest in office pilots.

The event confirmed that sustainability isn’t just reporting—it’s tangible action. Many thanks to the organizers for the platform, and we’ll see you at the next edition with even more stations running.
